The composition of the Eccelsiasts, that once were called 'The Shepards', has not changed much since the foundation of the Redeemed. No new members were ever added, but originally they were nine, not seven. Two of them has left this life in the times between then and now.

The first of them was Xan-Muthi, also called 'The First Ear' or 'The Rainbow Leaf'. She was always weak, and shortly after becoming a shepard she fell sick and could no longer stand on her own legs. All expected that her spirit would soon depart after that, but that did not happen. As time passed, great wars would be fought - most all of the great heroes would fall - the ancient sanctuaries would be levelled with the ground - the very fabric of the land would be torn to pieces, and the world itself was split in two. Yet Xan-Muthi lived on. Many Redeemed and Unredeemed would transform into other shapes. They would create many new breeds of servants and the river of creation would almost dry out - and still Xan-Muthi lived on.

So, when the word came from the Diviners of every gardern, that a rift would soon open back to the lost half of the world - then Xan-Muthi turned on her side and said: 'I will die now'. Though, before she died they catched an essence of her spirit, and they made this appliance, that can be used to turn one of the weapons of the Unredeemed against themselves.
