Description

This semi-sentient crystal entity is found deep beneath the frozen wastes of Penumbra. The Yuttos use ancient routes carved in the ice to reach the caverns where the creatures live. They believe the caverns were once home to tribes of ancient Somphos.

The creatures emits a series of unusual high frequency wave patterns that combine to act as a very powerful short radius light source. The creatures may have been engineered or reared by the ancient residents of Penumbra to provide light sources for when they had to travel beneath the ice sheets.

The beings have certainly been tamed or domesticated. Once they have bonded with a person they will follow them loyally and never leave their shoulder.

The Yuttos insist that the beings are an intelligent life form yet there is no known way to communicate with the creatures. The Yuttos believe this actually makes them perfect traveling companions for those occasions when one wishes to share their thoughts without getting any opinions back they might not like, whilst being safe in the knowledge that someone is at least listening.
