Description

This DNA sample from a Girder Runt seems to be tagged by a unique Xan protein that is attached to the DNA helix itself.

Analysis of the protein would indicate that it was some form of genetic marker used by the Xan to track the development of the Girders. Rather then tagging the creatures with a physical object they appear to have been able to insert this protein into a creature's DNA so that the marker would be passed down to future generations of the creature's offspring.

The protein seems to store any and all changes to its host DNA in a unique series of molecular records. Jobe researchers have been somewhat successful in extracting this information, allowing them to gain further insights into the development of the Girder species.
