This data device acts as an encyclopedic reference of all known symbols and languages. It contains a massive data library of every known alphabet, and a record of a complete standardized set of letters, each of which roughly represents a phoneme of a spoken language, either as it exists now or as it may have been in the past.

The device uses advanced nano-optics to scan any symbol and almost instantly index it and compare it to its own database to provide the closest frame of reference to any known grapheme, morpheme or symbolic glyph.

The Xan language continues to mystify Jobe research, as despite this vast reference library they are no closer to being able to decipher the Xan language then when they first discovered the Shadowlands.
