This special gift for all citizens of Rubi-Ka was commisioned for the anniversary of immigration to Rubi-Ka. This nanite based device was originally designed as a sentient AI and companion that doubled as a recording device that would allow you to recall your own thoughts and collect them on special laser data crystals for future reference.

However the technology proved less than effective and now all it appears to do is bore into your spinal cord and allow the AI access to your nervous system. It also leaves a small mark once used. The manufacturer decided to give them away as presents to all colonists on Rubi-Ka in order to see if field use would refine the AI any.

No one is quite sure what they hope to gain with this gift but never look a gift horse in the mouth.
